CULTURE
GLOMDAL MUSEUM
Open-air Museum
Located in a beautiful setting on the banks of the Glomma river in Elverum, this is one of the country’s largest open-air museums, featuring 91 historical buildings from Østerdalen and Solør. The museum houses a number of historical treasures, such as the beautiful Stremsrudstua from Grue (described in Vinje’s ”Ferdaminne”) and the richly decorated Synvisstua from Os in Østerdalen. Here we also have the country’s best preserved farm dating from the Finnish immigration period during the 17th century. Farm animals graze in the area during the summer.
